3/21/2024 0 Comments Schlage deadbolt locks![]() Another one, more elusive, is that the mechanism develops a "catch" as the temperature drops. I'm sure that the problem is the change in increasing of hardness of the weather-stripping as the temperature drops. In the summer, my front door latches with just a wispy swing toward closure, but in the winter one has to slam the hell out of it to get it to close properly, so it will latch under its own power. This can be aggravating beyond all belief. Make sure the latch plate is forcing the door to center on the holes in the strike plate. Check the ease of locking (both closed and open) and make sure the lock is not bottoming out in the door frame. I suspect that this is a physical issue rather that an electronic one. I would very much appreciate any ideas you have as to why I'm getting a "lock jammed" message under this one event when it doesn't appear like the lock is really jammed. Also, today I changed the batteries in the device, so I tested the above again with no difference in the results. I have checked for updates and re-tested the above when I found and installed one - no changes to what I experience. Why, then, does it register as "lock jammed" when I run the event to lock the door at sunset and when the lock appears to be physically locked with no problem? So, the homeseer system is seeing the device and understanding what is going on with it just fine in these other cases. I can also lock the door manually, and the homeseer system will register this status correctly as "Manual Lock Operation". I tested whether the lock works by closing the door and locking it from the outside (event #2 above), and the homeseer system gives me the proper status of "Keypad Lock Operation", and the door is indeed locked. ![]() Additionally, if I click on the device from the device page and push the button that says "lock", it also results in the status of "lock jammed" on my dashboard but in reality the lock is locked. However, in physical reality, the lock is locked just fine. I have done some testing on #3 recently, and again today ,and discovered that when I manually run that event, the locked/unlocked icon on the device page indicates green/locked but the status of the lock says "Lock Jammed". It is set up with a couple different events - two of which are working and one is working but reporting a "Lock Jammed" message:ġ) when I enter that door from the outside using the keypad code, the lock unlocks as it is supposed to do and the homeseer system then turns on the garage light for me - this is working fineĢ) when I lock that door from the outside using the "schlage" button, the lock locks itself and the homeseer system turns off the garage light - this is working fineģ) if ever I use that door during the day and forget to lock it, we have an event set up to automatically lock the door at sunset and turn off the light - this is the event that is giving me some trouble. It is connected into my homeseer system just fine. Hi - I have a Schalge Smart Lock on a door in my garage.
